Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market - Farmers and gardeners from around the local region bring their fresh produce, flowers and baked goods to this Downtown Farmers Market located between Cass and Union Streets across from Clinch Park.
Elk Rapids Farmers Market – The market will be held on Friday mornings, starting at 8 a.m. from June 5th thru October 30th, 2009. It will be held at the Chamber building located on US 31 in Elk Rapids.
The Village Farmers Market - The Village Farmers Market is brimming with deliciously displayed delights from our region's awesome farmers and growers, who bring fresh-picked produce, fantastic plants, flowers and food products to The Village at Grand Traverse Commons! Stroll through the market, picnic on the lawn, play a game of bocce, and stay awhile to relax and enjoy your afternoon in The Village.
Tapas Tours - What a great way to spend an afternoon on Old Mission Peninsula! Join our wine educators at Chateau Chantal as you take a tapas influenced appetizer and wine pairing grazing tour. Enjoy spectacular views of the Grand Traverse Bay and kind company as you learn a different spin on cost friendly wine pairings that will impress your friends! Tours leave daily at 12:30 pm. The cost is $25 per person and reservations are required. Group rates are available.
Coffee Klatch Come into the MCH lobby beginning at 9 am and enjoy donuts, muffins, juice and coffee while visiting with your neighbors.
TBRV Golf – Must sign up in the MCH by 4 pm Friday in order to play on the following Monday so that tee times can be reserved.
Hand & Foot and Card Night – Weekly events held at TBRVR’s SCH for our very own card sharks!
Bible Study – Come to the SCH each Thursday from 10 am to Noon to share in a weekly Bible Study led by Jay Montgomery of Lot #77.
Arts & Crafts – Bring your creative project and work with other crafters at the SCH each Thursday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm.
Motorcycle Rides – Meet with a group of TBRVR motorcyclists outside the MCH on Saturdays 9/12 and 9/26 at 10 am for a group ride led by one of our very own residents through our beautiful countryside.
9/2 Social Committee Meeting – MCH 10 am; This year’s activities will be reviewed and plans for next year will be discussed. All owners interested in TBRVR’s social activities should plan to attend.
9/4 Crescent Woods Gatherings - Terry Wooten of Stone Circle fame will be be completing this summer’s schedule of poetry and stories told over a fire. There will be plenty of stone slabs to sit on but people may want to bring their own blankets or lawn chairs. There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $2 for children
9/5 /Southern-Style Breakfast MCH 8:30-10:30 Buffet includes scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, grits, sausage, sausage gravy, biscuits, fried apples, juice and coffee. Sign-up in MCH; pay $5 at the door.
9/5-6 Royal Craft Show at Castle Farms Castle Farms is proud to host the annual Royal Craft Show in beautiful Charlevoix, Michigan, on Labor Day Weekend. The grounds and buildings of Castle Farms will be the host to one of Michigan's most prestigious craft shows where thousands of visitors will attend this event. This craft show will feature only the finest arts and crafts that can be found and will be held in one of the most affluent areas in the state. Free parking with a $3.00 per person admission fee. Food is available at a nominal charge. Pets are not allowed.
9/6 Labor Day Cookout MCH 6 pm Brats, grilled onions & green peppers, corn on the cob, potato salad, baked beans, and dessert. Sign up in MCH; no charge.
9/11-13 Michigan Schooner Festival Traverse City Open Space; The festival will feature a number of Great Lakes Tall Ships. On Friday, there will be a Grand Arrival Event featuring the participating ships followed by deck tours at Clinch Park Marina. Saturday events include: food, entertainment including "Song of the Lakes", a sailing and special progressive dinner and wine-tasting aboard the ships. Sunday starts with a "Pancakes with Pirates" breakfast in Open Space Park with more fun to follow.
9/12 Old Mission Peninsula Wine & Food Celebration 3-8 p.m. @ Bowers Harbor Park; The Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula have teamed together with area restaurants for the third annual Old Mission Peninsula Wine & Food Celebration. The ticket includes a souvenir glass and wine tasting tickets. Additional tasting tickets are available as well. Menu offerings will range in price from $3-$10. Join us for a taste of the best local wine, food and music this unique destination has to offer! Restaurants include:Peninsula Grill & Bad Dog Deli, The Boathouse Restaurant, Bowers Harbor Inn, Old Mission Tavern, Peninsula Market, and Old Mission General Store.
9/12 /Roast Chicken Dinner MCH 6 pm Caesar salad, one-half of a roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls with butter, and dessert. Tickets will be on sale for $5.50 at the MCH office.
9/17 Coney Dog Night MCH 6 pm; Dogs, sauce, chips & dessert for $3. Sign-up will be at MCH with payment at the door.
9/18 Downtown Art Walk in Traverse City Art adorns the walls of Downtown Traverse City during the bi-annual Downtown Art Walk to promote the arts within the community. Enjoy art, wine, food and music. Experience art from sculpture and oil paintings to glass and watercolor. Prize drawings at participating stores. Walking maps are available at each participating gallery and the Downtown Traverse City office.
9/18 Dancing Wine City Opera House, 106 E Front 8-9:30 pm; Three local wineries with six wines have been paired with original choreography by the Michigan Dance Collective for a dance experience at the City Opera House. As you experience the flavor of local wines in a traditional tasting environment, enjoy the visual element of art set in motion. The Michigan Dance Collective will perform an evening dance concert with choreography ranging from Jazz to Ballet to Modern. Tickets are $20; $25 at the door.
9/19-20 Grand Traverse Woman Exp(O!) Grand Traverse Resort and Spa 10-6 Sat & 10-4 Sun; Workshops throughout both days. Over 250 vendors!
9/19 Wine Tasting and Cheese Social MCH 7 pm; Bring one bottle of wine for the tasting and one appetizer to share. Don’t forget to bring your own wine glasses and the tasting will begin at 7 pm sharp!
9/26 Annual Chili & Soup Cook-off – MCH 6 pm; Enter your favorite chili or soup recipe in TBRVR’s annual cook-off. Or, bring an accompaniment to the chili and soup entries. Sign-up in the MCH and tell us what you want to bring for the sharing.
The Traverse City area hosts a wide variety of festivals throughout the year, including the National Cherry Festival in early July. Other major celebrations throughout the year are listed on this calendar.
